Boarding an Intact Dog in Plano (and What Happens if She's in Heat)
Evaluated by behavior, not a checkbox.
If you've called around Plano for boarding and heard "we require spay/neuter," you're not alone. Most facilities either refuse intact dogs or add a fee. We do neither, and never have.
Why we don't require it
Families keep dogs intact for good reasons — a vet's advice to wait until the dog is fully grown, breed health considerations, showing, responsible breeding, or a thoughtful personal choice. That's between you and your vet. Our job is to care for the dog in front of us.
How boarding works for intact dogs
Every guest has a private, climate-controlled suite, so intact dogs board exactly like everyone else: $55/night standard, $89 VIP, 20% off each additional dog from your family, 24-hr staff on-site, individual potty breaks and outside time. No intact fee. The only added charge we have is $10/night on major holidays.
Intact males
Board on Standard or VIP. VIP guests join a trainer-led playgroup or get a private indoor dog park session every day. Marking or mounting gets handled the way we handle any playgroup behavior — redirect and a sound cue.
Females in heat — yes, still welcome
Your girl can board at any point in her cycle, with no extra fee. What changes is her day, not her welcome:
She sits out playgroups until 21 days after the cycle started.
She gets extra potty breaks and one-on-one time with staff instead.
Diapers are fine if she's used to having one put on easily. She wears one on the walk from her suite to the potty yard and during enrichment time; it comes off in the suite so nothing gets chewed. Bring a couple of washable ones.
Puppies who haven't been fixed
Welcome at any age once the full puppy vaccine series is complete. Bring their food and we keep their routine.
What to bring
Vaccine records (rabies, distemper, bordetella — or your vet's name and we'll request them), food portioned by meal, any meds with doses, and one thing that smells like home.
Questions? Just ask.
