Holiday Dog Boarding in Plano: When to Book for Thanksgiving & Christmas
If you're traveling for Thanksgiving or Christmas, your dog's reservation should be on the to-do list right next to the flights. Holiday weeks are the busiest boarding dates of the year in Plano, and they book up before anything else.
When to book
Our rule of thumb: the moment your own travel dates are set. Thanksgiving week and December 22–28 are the first to fill every year, followed by New Year's. Booking early costs nothing extra — a 30% deposit holds the dates, and it's fully refundable if you cancel more than 48 hours before the stay (holiday bookings become non-refundable within 7 days of the start).
What holiday boarding costs at Paws Up
Standard boarding: $55/night, 20% off each additional dog from the same family
VIP boarding: $89/night — adds a daily playgroup or indoor dog park session, cuddle time, daily photos, a treat and a bath before pickup
Holiday surcharge: +$10/night on major holidays. It's the only added charge we have.
Holiday windows: Thanksgiving (Wednesday–Sunday), Christmas (Dec 22–28), New Year's (Dec 31–Jan 2), plus Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th (July 2–6) and Labor Day. Full details on our boarding page.
What your dog's holiday looks like
Same as any other stay, just with more friends in the building: a private, climate-controlled suite, their own food on their own schedule, individual potty breaks and outside time, meds at no charge, and 24-hr staff on-site. Seniors and special-needs dogs are housed beside the staff lounge and monitored overnight.
Prep checklist (do this a week out)
Vaccines current — rabies, distemper and bordetella. Upload records in the Owner's Portal, or we can contact your vet.
Food pre-portioned by meal, plus any medications with doses and times in your dog's portal profile.
One comfort item — a blanket or toy that smells like home. We supply bowls, bedding and enrichment.
First-time guest? Book a short stay or a daycare day beforehand so the building isn't new on the big trip.
