Your Dog's First Day at Daycare: How to Prepare (Plano Guide)

October 28, 2026•2 min read

The first daycare day matters more than any after it. Get it right and your dog walks in happy every time. Here's how we run it — and how to help.

Optional: take a tour (20 minutes)

Weekdays 4:30–6pm, weekends 9am–1pm. You don't have to tour before the first day, but many families like to. Dogs are welcome, though it's easier to walk through and actually see things without one. Book online or call/text 469-409-3044.

Step 1: Set up the owner account

Your dog's profile and vaccine records live there. Required: rabies, distemper, bordetella. If you don't have the records handy, give us your vet's name and we'll request them.

Step 2: The free first day

New dogs' first full day is on us. It doubles as the group evaluation every dog does — no separate evaluation fee. Drop off between 7 and 11am; pick up between 4 and 7pm.

What the day looks like

  1. Settle in — quiet time, a morning treat or the breakfast you sent, first trip outside.

  2. Play — small trainer-led groups. We mix sizes and match energy and personalities, and a trainer sets boundaries.

  3. Rest — a pack nap right in the play area, or a full break in a suite for a dog who needs space from the group. Play ends when the dog is done, not when a clock says so.

  4. Pickup — a happy-tired dog and an honest word about how it went.

How to help before the day

  • Skip the big breakfast; a light meal keeps first-day nerves settled.

  • Short goodbye at the door. Long goodbyes make the hand-off harder for the dog.

  • Tell us anything we should know — a dog who guards toys, a puppy still learning manners, an intact dog. None of those are problems; they're just useful.

  • Plan a quiet evening. Most dogs sleep hard after day one.

After the first day

Book days in the portal whenever you need them: $35/day, full days only. If you know you'll come weekly, memberships run $135 (1 day/wk), $270 (2), $400 (3) per month, or unlimited weekdays for $499. The only add-on is a bath, $30.
